Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Terence is one of the boldest, most distinctive voices in commercial and music video direction today.
Terence first garnered international attention with his natural aptitude for crafting original films defined by a uniquely dark and dystopian aesthetic in Skrillex’s ‘Ragga Bomb’ music video, where he transformed parts of his hometown into a post-apocalyptic battleground for waste trolley surfers. His unique vision and style was influenced by growing up in a country he has described as ‘politically and culturally charged, stimulating and inspiring’.
Unafraid to challenge convention or to push the boundaries of visual storytelling, Terence's innate spirit of gritty individuality is evident in his work for global streetwear brands. Creativity called his ‘Your Future Is Not Mine’ campaign for adidas an “anthem to individuality and defiance” while his commercials for the adidas ‘Original Is Never Finished’, campaign won him a Grand Prix at Cannes Lions – the first and only South African director to ever earn this honour.
Since then, Terence has made his mark in the commercial film industry directing for high-profile brands like Apple, Facebook, NBA, BMW, Swarovski, Budweiser, Moncler, Beats by Dre and Playstation. His 2023 ‘Own The Floor’ film for Nike marked the company’s bold new direction in dance, as part of a campaign that was featured on billboards across the world.
His latest work epitomizes his talent as a visual storyteller, top performance director and great collaborator, and continues to inspire and celebrate artists, musicians and storytellers the world over.
